The Greater Bel Air Community Foundation, Inc. was founded in April of 1998 by local citizens and business people concerned about the welfare of the families and citizens of Bel Air, the community, its facilities, and the Town.

The Foundation raised almost $300,000 towards the construction of bleachers at Bel Air High School, the total cost for which was over $400,000. Additionally, $50,000 was raised for improvements to the William A. Humbert Amphitheater, located in Shamrock Park, and $30,000 for a permanent restroom facility at the Lyn Stacie Getz Creative Playground at Route 24 and Ring Factory Road.

In 2005, the Foundation created a playground grant program for Bel Air area schools. Awarding $5,000 grants to Ring Factory Elementary School, Bel Air Elementary School, Wakefield Elementary School and Homestead Park to assist in the replacement of outdated equipment.

Essentially, the Foundation raises funds for capital improvement projects in the community. These projects primarily consist of the creation of and/or improvement to standing structures and/or permanent equipment as improvements to standing structures. In the past 21 years, we have funded over $913,946 for 50+ projects
